A Gospel Opportunity on National Radio
Leading up to the Kuza Live event I shared about in my April 14th post, I was invited by Barbara, a radio host on Nation FM, to come on air on Palm Sunday from 7:00–8:00 AM and teach on the meaning of Palm Sunday. This live segment also served as a way to promote the Kuza Live event. I felt deeply honored for the opportunity, especially knowing I would be speaking to such a large audience.
The King Who Comes in Peace and Will Return in Judgment
I taught from Luke 19:28–40, where Jesus enters Jerusalem riding on a donkey. In Scripture, riding on a donkey was associated with kingship, David rode in a donkey (1 Kings 1:33), and his sons did likewise (2 Samuel 13:29). This pointed to Jesus as King in the line of David.
Zechariah 9:9 further prophesies that the King (Jesus) would come riding on a donkey, bringing salvation. Jesus fulfilled this perfectly in His first coming, a humble King offering peace and salvation.
However, Scripture also tells us that Jesus will come again. Revelation 19:11 describes Him returning on a white horse, and Revelation 19:15 says He will strike down the nations and judge those who oppose Him.
The key lesson is this: it is far better to know Jesus as Savior now, the King who comes on a donkey, than to face Him later as Judge when He returns on a horse. My goal in sharing this message on Nation FM was to call people to repent and believe in Jesus today, before it is too late.
Encouragement, Gratitude, and Prayer
Several people texted into the show expressing appreciation for the clear and straightforward gospel message. My prayer is that many truly believed.
Thank you to those who financially support this ministry you make opportunities like this possible, allowing the gospel to be preached on national platforms. Thank you also to those who pray for us; your prayers give us grace and strength to proclaim the truth boldly. Please continue praying for more open doors to share the gospel and for many to respond in faith.
We're in Sierra Leone! - Vision 2030
In a previous post on February 11th, I shared that Kuza’s Vision 2030 is to reach 200 million people weekly across 13 English-speaking African countries by the year 2030. One of the countries I specifically asked you to pray for was Sierra Leone, that God would open the door for Kuza’s podcast to be broadcast weekly on the radio. By God’s grace, that is exactly what has happened. We are thrilled to see Vision 2030 becoming more and more of a reality.
Sierra Leone’s Size & Population
Sierra Leone is about half the size of the U.S. state of Georgia, yet it has a population of just over 9 million people, compared to Georgia’s roughly 11 million. Unlike Georgia, Sierra Leone is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in West Africa, with long stretches of white sand, lush rainforest, and stunning coastline. It is truly a beautiful country.
Blood Diamonds: Wealth, War, and Reconciliation
In the 1990s, the term “blood diamonds” became tragically associated with Sierra Leone. Blood diamonds, also called conflict diamonds, are gemstones mined and sold to finance armed violence, often at immense human cost. Sierra Leone’s civil war (1991–2002) was fueled in part by diamond profits. Rebel groups seized diamond-rich areas and sold diamonds on international markets to buy weapons and sustain the conflict. Easy access to riverbed diamonds, combined with weak governance and corruption, allowed this trade to flourish.
The consequences were devastating. Tens of thousands were killed, communities were displaced, and horrific abuses, including the use of child soldiers and deliberate mutilations, were used to terrorize civilians. After the war ended, Sierra Leone began a long journey of recovery and reconciliation. International reforms such as the Kimberley Process sought to curb conflict diamonds, but even more powerful has been the pursuit of forgiveness, peacebuilding, and restoration within local communities. Today, Sierra Leone stands as both a warning about injustice and a testimony to resilience and hope.
Radio Ministry in Sierra Leone
There is a significant opportunity for ministry in Sierra Leone. Roughly 77% of the population is Muslim, yet the Muslim community is widely known to be communal rather than confrontational. Christians and Muslims frequently interact in everyday life, creating openness for gospel witness.
Because of this, we believe Sierra Leone is ripe for radio ministry, especially to reach Muslims with Scripture-centered truth through Kuza’s podcasts. We are excited to announce that our podcast will now be broadcast on Africa Young Voices, the largest secular radio station in the country and one of the few stations with nationwide coverage, reaching several million people daily.
Please pray for the salvation of Muslims across Sierra Leone as God’s Word goes forth through Kuza’s radio ministry.
We're in Malawi! - Vision 2030
I’ve been periodically sharing updates on our Vision 2030 goal in our newsletter. Vision 2030 is our desire to access 200 million people weekly in 13 English-speaking African countries. By God’s grace, we have now started broadcasting Kuza’s podcast weekly in Malawi. Malawi is now the 6th country out of the 13 on our list that we are able to access.
A Legacy of Gospel Advance
The famous missionary explorer David Livingstone made his way into Malawi in 1859 when he reached the shores of Lake Malawi. His vision for Africa was summarized in three words: Christianity, commerce, and civilization. He believed these would help replace the slave trade. Livingstone’s journals and articles were widely read in Great Britain, and he became something of a national hero. His descriptions of the horrors of slavery brutal treatment, death marches, and family separation helped shift public opinion away from supporting the slave trade. He believed Lake Malawi was a strategic place where this vision could take root, serving as a base for mission stations and a gateway for taking the gospel deeper into Africa.
New Broadcast Opportunities
David Livingstone helped lay the groundwork that ministries like Kuza now build upon as we continue spreading the gospel and teaching sound biblical truth in Malawi. We are thrilled to now be broadcasting on Linga FM and CAN Radio in Lilongwe. Lilongwe’s metro area has around 1.4 million people, but these stations reach far beyond the capital city. Together, they provide access to approximately 6 million people weekly. This brings Kuza’s total weekly access to 91 million people.
A Young Nation
Malawi’s population of just over 20 million people is very young, with the average age between 17 and 18 years old. Radio and the internet are powerful tools to reach this generation and help guide them into truth. Please pray for the people in Malawi, that those who do not know Christ would come to salvation, and that believers would grow in their faith.
